Northgate Street in the centre of Bath will be closed overnight this Saturday, 31st August, and again on 21st September, in connection with works taking place at Waitrose.

The Waitrose store at The Podium in Bath

On both occasions the street will be closed from the junction with New Bond Street to Broad Street from 6pm to 10am the following day.

The temporary traffic order is due to a mobile crane needing to lift chillers and equipment onto the roof of the supermarket at The Podium.

Traffic will not be able to turn left from New Bond Street towards Broad Street and will only be able to turn right onto Northgate Street towards Bridge Street/Grand Parade.

Traffic heading northbound on High Street will not be able to continue onto Northgate Street and will be diverted onto Bridge Street to pick up the diversion route.

Back-up dates for the road closures have been approved by Bath & North East Somerset Council. They are Saturday 7th September and Saturday 5th October.
