This Saturday, 4th November, residents in Peasedown St John are being invited to take part in a community clean up, following the launch of the new monthly scheme in the summer.
During the summer, local councillors Karen Walker and Sarah Bevan launched the new monthly clean up scheme where they invite Peasedown villagers to join them on the first Saturday of the month to give a chosen street a tidy up.
Cllr Karen Walker (Independent) said: “Sarah and I both believe very strongly in community action and working with residents to help them make a difference in our village.
“Over the last few months, residents have contacted us about the excess amount of litter in and around the village and asked if could do anything to help.”
The next clean up will be held on Saturday 4th November at 11.30am in Keel’s Hill, Axford Way, Filer Close and Ford Road (meet at the top of Keel’s Hill).
Cllr Sarah Bevan (Independent) added: “We’ve organised many community clean ups over the years, and it’s always good to see residents joining in.
“People often feel a strong sense of pride and community spirit when they give their time up to do something for the area they live in.”
Anyone who’d like to join in should take gloves and any protective clothing they may want to wear. Karen and Sarah will provide litter pickers and rubbish sacks.
The councillors will publicise monthly, by delivering letters to homes, where each clean up will take place.
