A new games area that will benefit the community has been opened in the Whiteway area of Bath thanks to £54,000 of Community Infrastructure Levy funding.

The regeneration scheme for the former Rosewarn Park, which has been renamed Whiteway Green, was granted funding by Bath & North East Somerset Council to create a modern, sustainable multi-use games area (MUGA).
The project was completed at the end of the summer and has provided a low-maintenance, all-weather facility. It was managed by Whiteway Community Association.
The games area is a safe space for children to play on with its surrounding fence and has a robust synthetic play surface, suitable for many sports.
The project has been supported by landowner Curo, as well as the council.
Councillor Kevin Guy, B&NES Council leader, said: “Whiteway Green is a much-needed asset to the community that will enable residents of all ages to get the exercise they need.
“It will help people to thrive and improve their wellbeing, encouraging enjoyment of the outdoors for decades to come.
“I’m delighted that we have been able to play our part in supporting this fantastic new facility for Whiteway.”
Carl McMurtry, Director of Estate Services at Curo, added: “It’s been a pleasure hearing from local communities and working in partnership with councillors to help make these changes possible.
“Whiteway Green has seen the local community, including many young people, become increasingly involved in recent years.
“It’s great that they are now reshaping the space for all to use. At Curo we’ll always welcome and support initiatives like this, so please do get in touch if there are pockets of Curo land near you that you’d like to make a better space.”
Councillor Sarah Moore, Ward Councillor for Twerton and Whiteway, said: “It is great to see the MUGA in place and being well used.
“This was requested following a community survey which highlighted a number of improvements that residents wanted.
“I am pleased we were able to work collaboratively with both Curo and residents to make this happen.”
