The Hive Community Centre in Peasedown St John has appointed a new manager, who is to take on responsibility for the general day to day running of the building.

Lucy was appointed earlier this month
Lucy Day was appointed to the role earlier this month. The Hive Community Centre opened in the village last year, and is run by a group of volunteers.
Formerly the youth centre in Peasedown, the community stepped in and took over the space after B&NES Council announced its intention to close the building.
Chair of The Hive Management Committee, Joy Fraser, said: “We’re thrilled to welcome Lucy to the team. She has been a part of the Peasedown community for over 20 years and is well known to villagers through being a part of the Methodist Church. Plus, Lucy’s husband Andy runs The Meeting Place Coffee Shop.
“Lucy, a trained and experienced social worker, comes with years of experience of working with foster carers and looked after children.
“We’re looking forward to working with her to see how we can best support our local community.”
Lucy added: “The Hive is a fantastic project to be a part of. It’s already home to the village Post Office, Swallow Café, the Community Library and a wide selection of community groups throughout the week.
“Our aim is to continue to build a Community Centre that’s at the heart of the village. Our vision is for the centre to provide a range of community activities and events for the people of Peasedown St John and surrounding areas and to be the preferred choice for those planning activities, events, training and meetings.
“We want to provide a safe environment in which members of the community of Peasedown.”
The Hive Community Centre (located next to Peasedown St John Primary School on Bath Road, BA2 8DH) has rooms available for hire including three meeting rooms, a large art room, a sports hall large enough for badminton, and an outside sports court.
