The new pedestrian bridge at Meadow Lane will be made of steel and timber and set at ground level with rails either side.
Bath & North East Somerset Council planners said the new bridge would preserve the openness of the Green Belt and reduce the impact on the banks as walkers will no longer have to scramble up and down to get across the stream.
The council received two comments of support from members of the public saying it will make the meadows more accessible for walkers and offer a safe way across the stream which at present is “risky” as the bank sides are steep and can be slippery.
Bathampton Parish Council supported the need but queried whether any other planning permission might be needed as the bridge is not on a designated footpath.
But B&NES Council said it was not aware of any other permission that would be needed.
