Drivers are being warned to expect delays in the city centre as traffic is being diverted for 10 weeks due to footway improvement works in Charlotte Street, Queen Square Place and Palace Yard Mews.

The work involves replacing paving slabs. Bath & North East Somerset Council is introducing temporary restrictions from today, Monday 19th January, for up to 18 months, although the works are expected to be done by 27th March.

Palace Yard Mews is closed from its junction with the A4 Charlotte Street junction southwards to No. 9.

The one-way restriction in Palace Yard Mews is being suspended to allow for two-way traffic. Vehicles need to enter and via the junction with St Paul’s Place.

Traffic is only able to travel in a westerly direction coming from Queen Square. Vehicles going the other way must follow the diversion via Little Stanhope Street.

Vehicles leaving Charlotte Street Car Park onto the A4 must turn right and follow the diversion.

There is also a no right-hand turn restriction at Monmouth Place at its junction with the A4 Upper Bristol Road.
