Photos show the tree has fallen straight across the road, taking down some of the metal fencing of Hedgemead Park.
Councillor Paul Crossley, B&NES Council’s cabinet member for Community Services, said: “The tree in Hedgemead Park was inspected earlier in the year and there were no external signs that indicated the internal decay was present.
“However due to a fungal infection causing extensive internal decay of the main stem, the tree has unfortunately failed and fallen across the Paragon, striking a property on the other side of the road.
“The road is currently closed while we work to clear it up and assess any damage to the buildings opposite. We apologise for any inconvenience caused.”
