Monmouth Place in Bath has been closed to through traffic this evening to allow Wessex Water to repair a burst main.
A diversion is in place but rush-hour commuters are being advised to use alternative routes if possible.
Wessex Water said customers’ water supplies had not been affected by the burst.
A spokesperson said: “We apologise for any inconvenience caused by this emergency closure.
“Work is expected to be completed and the road reopened later this evening.”
