The Mayor of Bath, Councillor Manda Rigby, is inviting entries to a new photographic competition with the theme ‘Memories of Bath, Lonely in Lockdown’.
Cllr Rigby’s theme for the year is ‘Combatting Loneliness, Bath the Friendly City’, and she is keen to receive residents’ memories from the last few months.
There are three categories – age 11 and under, age 12-18, and 19 and above.
The competition is aimed at all who reside, work, or study in the City of Bath, and hopes to complement the work of the Bath Record Office’s Corona Captured project, in creating a lasting memory of this time.
The Mayor said: “Many more people have been isolated or suffered from loneliness over this period. There have also been many communities coming together to combat this.
“I’m looking forward to seeing any photos which encapsulate your experience of loneliness in this time.”
Entries will be accepted until 31st July 2020 by email to [email protected].
Include in the subject title ‘Photo Competition’ and your ‘Age Group’.
Remember to include your name and a caption for your photo, which will be added to an online exhibition.
After the closing date, Cllr Rigby will choose 3 winners, in conjunction with Paul Gillis, a professional local freelance photographer.
The winners will be invited, with up to 3 guests, to visit the Mayor in the Parlour at the Guildhall when the lockdown has been lifted. A small gift will also be presented.
More information, and the full terms and conditions for the competition, can be found here.
