Dorothy House Hospice Care is inviting local people to be heroes for a night and take part in their ‘Hospice Care Hero Walk’ fundraiser, previously known as the Bath Moonlight Walk.
The event takes place between 5pm-10pm on Saturday 7th September, in the grounds of the Bath Spa University Campus at Newton Park near Bath.
Registration opens at 5pm and the walks start from 6pm.
Walkers can dress up as their favourite superhero and enjoy hero-themed fun zones as they walk their chosen 1km, 5km or 10km route in the beautiful countryside around the campus which features a lake, woodlands, meadows, scenic views and a castle.
At the start, there will be food and drink stalls, a merchandise stall selling superhero masks, capes and glow bands, some mystery guests will mingle with the crowds and a DeLorean sports car will be on show along with a Selfie Wall for photos.
Along the walking routes, there will be a Music Zone by the lake, a snow machine in the Frozone plus a Bubble Zone you can dance through at Newton Farm Foods and a Ye Olde Hero Zone at the castle.
There will also be a Memory Area to reflect and remember loved ones.
All walkers will receive a free gift before the walk and a free ‘superhero’ drink after the walk.
Spectators, supporters, walkers, staff and volunteers are being invited to join the hero-themed after-party for a silent disco.
There will also be a raffle to win a luxury Mulberry handbag, street food, a prosecco stall and drinks bar.
Emily Knight, Event Fundraiser at Dorothy House said: “Signing up for the Hero Walk will help us fund vital patient care for more people as the Hospice aims to double its patient numbers by 2025.
“The walk is a fantastic way to celebrate all the heroes involved with Dorothy House such as our patients, family members, carers, fundraisers, nurses, staff and volunteers.
“We can’t wait to see everyone donning their superhero outfits and enjoying a walk in the gorgeous grounds of Bath Spa University before relaxing with a well-earned drink at our after-party.”
If you can volunteer your time to be a marshal at the event, contact [email protected].
Tickets are £20 for walkers over 12+ years, child tickets are £10 for 2-11years.
Entry is free for spectators and children under 2 years and dogs on leads are welcome to participate.
There is plenty of parking on-site and some public buses will run to the university throughout the event.

The Dorothy House’s work touches many people’s lives and all their care is free of charge so fundraising and sponsorship is vital to the charity. £56 could pay for two hours of a Dorothy House Nurse Specialist delivering care to patients in the community.
Providing their services requires significant funds and for every £1 received from the NHS, Dorothy House has to raise a further £5.
