The race is on for families and cycling enthusiasts to secure their spot in this year’s annual Bike Bath ride, now in its seventh year, set to take place on Sunday 1st July.
The event will once again raise money for local charity Dorothy House Hospice Care, near Bath. Individual riders can also nominate their own charity.
Championed by national property developer Redrow Homes, the event will start and end at the Rec in the heart of Bath.
Riders will have the choice of three new rides this year – the 25-mile social tailored to novice cyclists and families or the 50 or 80-mile challenge rides for the keener rider – through the city and the glorious Somerset countryside.
Riders will also enjoy some of the region’s finest food and drink at food stations along the routes and a celebratory pint of Bath Ale at the finish.
Organised by cycling experts Iconic Cycling Events, Bike Bath has grown year on year and last year attracted more than 1,500 riders from across the region.
The event is fully supported and features food stops and route signs, as well as mechanical support. As always, the 2018 event will feature three fresh new routes which will be confirmed shortly.
This year’s official partner charity, Dorothy House, provides free palliative and end of life care and support to people with a life-limiting illness, their families and carers across Bath and North-East Somerset, Wiltshire and Somerset.
Dave Bexon, group sales and marketing director at Redrow Homes said: “As one of the UK’s leading home builders, our brand purpose is the create a better way for people to live.
“We do this by creating thriving communities, building responsibly and valuing people, an excellent fit with cycling’s own values.
“We strive to incorporate health and well-being into all of our communities so are delighted to champion Iconic Cycling Event’s rides at three fantastic historic locations around the country.
“We’ve supported Bike Chester for the last two years and are now rolling this out to include the rides in Bath and Oxford.
“Across the company we have some very enthusiastic riders and more than 100 of my colleagues and myself will be taking part in these events over the spring and summer months.”
Richard Best, CEO of Iconic Cycling Events, said: “We’re thrilled to have secured the support of Redrow Homes again this year.
“Without the continued enthusiasm from our sponsors and cyclists, Bike Bath would not have become the inclusive and friendly event it is today.
“Now a firm fixture in the cycling enthusiast calendar, I hope we will see even more cyclists turn out this year to enjoy a fantastic day of cycling and to support some very worthy local charities.”
Entry is £36 per ride for the 80 and 50-mile rides or £26 for the 25-mile ride. New to 2018 is a family entry for the 25-mile route at £70 for two adults and two children under 16.
