Residents across the city are being reminded about a number of Remembrance Day Services taking place across Bath & North East Somerset this weekend.
Road closures will be in place for the Remembrance Day parades in Bath, Keynsham, Pensford, Paulton, Peasdown and Midsomer Norton on Sunday 12th November.
For people paying their respects in Bath, a new Field of Remembrance Cross has been made for Abbey Churchyard. The new cross was constructed by taking moulds of the old stones.
On Saturday 11th November, a Remembrance Day Service is at Haycombe Cemetery, in Whiteway Road, Bath, starting at 10.45am.
The event, which is being staged by Bath & North East Somerset Council’s Bereavement Services team, takes place between the Cross of Sacrifice and the Blitz graves and will include a two-minute silence at 11am.
The Vice-Chair of the Council, Councillor Karen Walker will take part and join members of the Royal British Legion.
On the same day Council Chair, Councillor Cherry Beath, is attending the Firs Field Remembrance Day Parade between 10-11am at Firs Field, Combe Down.
On Sunday 12th November, Council Leader, Councillor Tim Warren and Chief Executive, Ashley Ayre will lay a wreath on behalf of the council at the Royal British Legion Service of Remembrance at the War Memorial, Royal Victoria Park, Bath, starting at 10.30am.
Also on Sunday, Councillor Beath is representing the Council at Keynsham Remembrance Parade and Annual Church Service of Remembrance, at St John the Baptist Church, Keynsham, between 8.15am-12noon. She will also attend Remembrance Sunday Service at Bath Abbey between 1.50-5pm.
Councillor Karen Walker is attending the Midsomer Norton Remembrance Service which meets at Midsomer Norton Social Club at 10.15am and then St John’s Church, High Street, Midsomer Norton until 1pm and then she is at Radstock Remembrance Sunday Service, in Waterloo Road Radstock from 2-3pm.
