Bath Abbey’s annual Great Bath Bake Sale is back for its third consecutive year this Saturday, 1st October, between 11am-3pm, with more home-baked cakes, bakes and goodies than ever before.
This year’s sale will benefit 14 different charities instead of just three.
In addition to the Abbey’s Footprint project, charities which will have mouth-watering treats to sell include: The Carers’ Centre, Genesis Trust, Mentoring Plus, Dorothy House Hospice, Bath MIND and Bath Child Contact Centre.
Sharon Stevenson from Bath Abbey said: “Last year’s event was so successful, we raised nearly £2,000 for the Abbey’s Footprint project in less than 5 hours.
“This year, we’re hoping to share our success with a number of local charities. So if you’re inspired by the Great British Bake Off but don’t have the time to bake? Or if your flapjacks fall flat and your scones sink, then simply follow your nose to Bath Abbey on Saturday 1st October for some tasty home-baked, savoury and sweet treats!
“Cakes and bakes of all shapes and sizes will be on sale to raise funds for local charities and the Abbey’s own Footprint project.”
Aspiring bakers are being challenged to create their own masterpieces for the Abbey’s first-ever Showstopper Competition, creations should be brought to the Abbey by 11am (judging at 1pm).
There are fantastic prizes for both adults’ and children’s entries.
Children can also try their hand at Bread & Butter Making or Cupcake Decorating and there will be teas, coffees and soft drinks to wash down all the wonderful cake.
The Right Worshipful the Mayor of Bath, Councillor Paul Crossley will declare the Bake Sale officially open at 11am and it will close at 3pm.
