Bath & North East Somerset Council is encouraging residents to think about composting with the help of a discounted converter bin, ahead of changes to waste collections in November.
Home composting is an easy and effective way of recycling some of the daily household food waste produced, while providing significant benefits for gardens, reducing waste and improving our carbon footprint.
In November the Council is introducing waste collections every other week so composting could be a good way to reduce food and garden waste put out for collection.
To mark Compost Awareness Week Bath & North East Somerset Council has teamed up with getcomposting.com to offer residents discounted compost converter bins from £17.98 and a ‘buy one, get one free’ offer for a second compost converter bin from only £8.99, when the recommended retail price is £39.
As well as compost bins, residents can also purchase food waste digesters and hot composters allowing them to compost all of their uncooked household food waste.
Not only can you reduce how much waste you put out for collection by composting all your household food waste, you can also turn all your garden waste into compost and you won’t need to pay for it to be collected.
If you don’t have room for a home compost bin, you can still recycle your food waste in your weekly food waste recycling collection.
The Council’s Waste Campaigns Officers give talks to community groups and schools about home composting. They also have free compost bins available to schools, while stocks last.
