Local residents are being reminded that with the colder months fast approaching now is the perfect time to ensure that you and your vehicle are ready should any bad weather arrive.
Simple maintenance checks should be carried out, such as ensuring vehicles tyres are not too worn and all bulbs are working.
If your car needs an MOT, Bath & North East Somerset Council’s Fleet Transport Depot in Locksbrook Road, Bath, offers a thorough service Monday to Friday and Saturday mornings.
Technicians at the depot can carry out MOTs for cars, minibuses of between 13-16 seats, and goods vehicles between 3,000kg – 3,500kg.
They can also now quote for repairs and servicing work that might need doing.
Cllr Martin Veal (Conservative, Bathavon North), Cabinet Member for Community Services said: “Winter driving means colder weather – which can significantly affect the performance of your battery – so you need to take more care of your vehicle to ensure it is safe and to reduce the likelihood of a breakdown.
“If your vehicle is due an MOT, our mechanics can offer a reliable service at a time to suit you.
“The new repair service now available is not intended to undercut the competition, but offer a convenient opportunity for repairs and servicing to be carried out at the same time, where possible – something MOT customers have requested of us.”
The cost of the MOT is in line with Government guidance. MOT Class IV (cars); £49; MOT Class V (minibuses 13-16 seats) £55.00; MOT Class VII (Goods vehicles 3,000kg – 3,500kg) £55.00
You can book an MOT by calling 01225 477314 or emailing [email protected].
