The second half of a major resurfacing scheme on the A4 Keynsham bypass will be starting in early May, following the completion of the first phase on the westbound carriageway in Autumn 2017.

The work was prioritised in order to prevent serious deterioration of the surface over the winter.
The larger second phase will include resurfacing of Hicks Gate roundabout and the east-bound dual carriageway, bridge deck waterproofing on the A4 & A4174 and parapet barrier refurbishment.
Councillor Mark Shelford (Conservative, Lyncombe), Bath & North East Somerset Council’s cabinet member for transport & environment, said: “We are pleased to see this project will soon be completed, as it supports one of our key priorities to improve local transport.
“At a total cost of £2.5million this is one of our single biggest highway maintenance improvement schemes for a number of years on what is one of our busiest roads on the network.
“While we will try to minimise disruption by using traffic management appropriate to the circumstances, due to the substantial nature of the work – particularly the waterproofing – some lane closures will need to stay in place during the day.”
The Council is asking users of the route to allow for longer journeys during certain periods of the work.
Some advance works are taking place during April, with the main project starting on Tuesday 8th May at Hicks Gate roundabout.
The work is anticipated to take until July.
