The judges of 2018’s Blooming Whiteway’s front garden competition are taking to two wheels to get round all the gardens entered into this year’s event.

Blooming Whiteway is an annual front garden festival, aimed at encouraging local residents to come together as a community and do a little gardening.
Organiser Claire Loder said: “We are very pleased that 38 gardens entered the competition this year, but it does mean that it takes a while to get round them all! So Blooming Whiteway were very grateful to Sustrans for the loan of a couple of scooters for the judges.”
Orchardist, and gardener, Matt McCabe said: “I was really honoured to be asked to be a judge, and impressed with what local gardeners have created in a variety of spaces.
“These wonderful gardens are helping to make Whiteway a beautiful place to live.
“Our first look round was in June, with the early summer blooms, but it took a good few hours on foot. The wheels will certainly make things a bit easier for our final deliberations.”
The Blooming Whiteway Front Garden Festival prize-giving will be on Saturday 22nd Sept at the Southside Youth Hub, Kelston View at 2pm.
