Bath & North East Somerset Council’s Record Office staff organised a quiz, children’s activities and a display of pictures and documents with a World War One theme at the recent Weston Heritage Day.

Over 400 visitors attended the event in the Moravian Church, which marked the 100th anniversary of Combe Park War Hospital.

Many entered the Record Office quiz by answering questions on the hospital using the historic photos and papers on display.

Councillor Patrick Anketell-Jones (Conservative, Lansdown), Cabinet Member for Economic Development, said: “We were delighted that so many people turned out and were interested in the stories our Record Office has on the Combe Park War Hospital.

“This was a great opportunity for us to bring our store of local history out into the community.”

Bath & North East Somerset Record Office was able to offer the activities and the quiz as part of the community outreach project Our Heritage, Your Story: Explore the Past with Bath Record Office which is funded by the Heritage Lottery Fund.

The Record Office collects, preserves and makes available to the public a vast range of local records.
