Homes and businesses across a large part of the Bath area woke with no broadband connection this morning, following a major fault at the Kingsmead exchange in the city.
Openreach said the issue, which is affecting internet services from many providers including BT, Sky, TalkTalk, EE and Vodafone, was in the process of being fixed.
BT said they were “aware of a major incident which is currently affecting your area”.
Connections across the city started to fail at around 6.30am this morning, Sunday 17th July.
The Kingsmead telephone exchange is believed to serve more than 31,000 residential properties in Bath.
No confirmed restoration time has yet been provided, though some providers have advised it will be this evening.
An update from BT at 4pm said: “Engineers are aware and working on repair with service due to be restored tomorrow morning.”
7.10pm update: Some services were restored at around 7pm. For those who are still without a connection, try restarting your modem/router.
8.30pm update: A number of residents are reporting that their broadband connection is still offline. No official ETA has been given for when systems will be fully restored, though providers including Sky have advised either later this evening or early tomorrow morning (Monday).
