A glamorous fashion show and an evening of music by local musicians are being hosted by the Chairwoman of B&NES Council, Cllr Karen Walker, to raise money for charity during her year of office.

The Chairwoman is following the tradition of charity fundraising by putting on events to entertain the public and raise money for charities.

Her official charities for 2019 are: Dorothy House Hospice, the Motor Neurone Disease Association and Forces Online.

Cllr Karen Walker (Independent, Peasedown St John) said: “I have chosen three fantastic local causes, all close to my heart, and who each do such valuable work in our community.

“They’ve helped so many thousands of people across Bath & North East Somerset over the years, and without them so many residents would severely struggle.

“Please do consider supporting my chosen charities for 2019. Every penny raised will go a long way to helping someone in need.”

The first event is a charity music evening on Saturday 16th March at the Guildhall and will be compered by ITV presenter Bob Crampton, who recently retired after more than four decades on our screens.

It will be an informal evening featuring an eclectic mix of live music from local musicians. Tickets for the event will be £20.

The second spring fundraising event revives the popular Elegance in the Afternoon fashion shows, featuring a sparkling fizz reception, afternoon tea and refreshments, served in the magnificent Banqueting Room at the Guildhall during the afternoon of Saturday 13th April.

Guests will be seated at round tables, with the fashion show models – all local men, women and children – walking among them to show off the new summer collections.

The compere for Elegance in the Afternoon will be BBC Points West journalist Imogen Sellers and the models’ hair and make-up will be by students from Bath College. Tickets are £30, to include tea and refreshments.
