Essential gas upgrade work to start in Midsomer Norton next week

Wales & West Utilities will be starting a £55,000 project to upgrade gas pipes in Welton, near Midsomer Norton, on Monday 15th September.

Barring any engineering difficulties, it is expected the work in Station Road will be completed by the end of October.

The gas emergency and pipeline service has worked with Bath & North East Somerset Council to plan the work, and it has been agreed that traffic lights will be in operation throughout the project.

Wales & West Utilities’ Simon Lee, who is managing the project, said: “We know that working in areas like this is not ideal, but it is essential to make sure we keep the gas flowing to homes and businesses in the area, and to make sure the gas network is fit for the future.

“We’ll have a team of gas engineers on site throughout the project to make sure our work is completed as safely and as quickly as possible while keeping disruption to a minimum.”
