A fundraising event for Cancer Research UK (CRUK) in memory of a young doctor from Keynsham is taking place this week.

Daniel died in September 2025

More than £3,000 has already been pledged for Daniel’s CRUK Race Night, which will be held at Keynsham Rugby Football Club on Friday, 13th March.

Daniel Money, who attended both Chandag and Wellsway schools in Keynsham, went on to study Medicine at Birmingham University and remained in Birmingham for his junior doctor years.

In November 2022, at the age of 24, he was diagnosed with metastatic stage 4 bowel cancer.

He chose Cancer Research UK (CRUK) as the charity he wanted to raise money for as the research they fund is crucial in the search for new treatment options, early diagnosis and hopefully cures for all cancers.

Daniel died on 11th September 2025 at Birmingham Hospice, aged 27. His family and friends are continuing to raise funds in his memory.

The current total raised for CRUK is just over £87,000, and his girlfriend Abbie has raised more £14,000 for Birmingham Hospice in Daniel’s name.
