Plans to turn a property in Twerton High Street into a house in multiple occupation (HMO) have been withdrawn.
The application for No 66 was lodged by Rivers Birtwell, a firm specialising in accommodation for students and young professionals.
The company had wanted to turn the three-bed property into an HMO with six single bedrooms to accommodate six sharers.
Two bedrooms were proposed on the ground floor and four on the first floor. The conversion also included communal space and two shower rooms with WCs.
The site has parking for one vehicle in a garage to the rear.
The company pulled the plans last week after a Bath & North East Somerset Council planning officer pointed out that according to its records, the proposal would fail the HMO “concentration check”.
The council keeps a register of HMOs as it is acknowledged that a cumulative impact can significantly impact a neighbourhood.
If HMO properties represent 10% or more of households within a 100-metre radius of an application property, or it tips the concentration to 10% or more, permission cannot be given.
