Crews from four fire stations tackled a blaze at the popular Tollgate tearooms on the A46 near Bath in the early hours of Sunday morning, 27th March.
Reports of the fire at the property in Dyrham were received at 2.47am.
On arrival, firefighters found a blaze affecting the business premises, as well as the attached residential property.
The fire had originated in a kitchen area and was affecting the ground floor roof, with smoke logging to the residential floors of the property.
With six firefighters wearing breathing apparatus, crews used three high pressure hose reels, a safety jet, covering jet and turntable ladder to extinguish the fire and make the scene safe.
Crews administered a trauma pack to one person who was suffering with smoke inhalation, and they were later conveyed to hospital by the ambulance service.
Avon Fire & Rescue Service has said the cause of the incident is unknown ignition.
A post on The Tollgate’s Facebook page said the business will be closed for the “foreseeable future”, but it “will be back”.
