On Saturday 20th November, Emily Kingman and her firefighting colleagues opened up the station for a morning of coffee, cake and demonstrations of firefighting skills.
Visitors were treated to a selection of sweet treats, as well as hose reel and car cutting displays.
Firefighters and staff from across Avon Fire & Rescue spoke to residents of all ages, encouraging the next generation of firefighters about the roles and opportunities available within the fire service.
Children and adults spent time learning more about the fire service, career opportunities and the aims of Avon Fire & Rescue in the coming years.
Firefighter Emily Kingman, who organised the event, said: “I never expected so many people to of turned up on the day and to see so many homemade cakes!
“I couldn’t have done this event without help from across the Service and support from so many local people.
“I’d like to thank everyone who joined us on the day, and who kindly donated to the importance cause.
“The charity is close to my heart and I appreciate all the donations and support for Macmillan.
“A special thanks to the support from the Watch Management Team and crew here at Radstock who put in many hours in to help me prepare the station and help out on the day.”
While Emily would have been grateful for any support, the total collected during the open morning surpassed even her expectations.
She said: “After counting up all the pennies I can confirm that we raised £500.40 in total which is an incredible amount!
“Once again, I really appreciated all of the support for Radstock’s Macmillan Coffee Morning.”
