Residents were told to keep their doors and windows closed, and people were urged to avoid the area if possible while fire crews tackled the blaze at Hermes Close.
Avon Fire & Rescue Service said they were called out at 9.19am yesterday, Thursday 3rd September.
“Crews extinguished the fire using high pressure hose reels and covering jets.
“Firefighters remained at the scene after the fire was out to cool the equipment, monitor temperatures and check for any further hotspots.
“Local businesses and residents were asked to keep their windows and doors closed and up to 700 people were affected by a power outage.
“All surrounding properties were checked, with no damage reported. Residents were able to return to their properties once it was safe to do so.
“National Grid remained on scene to take over management of the substation and work to reinstate electricity to the affected area.
“The cause of the fire is thought to be accidental. Thankfully there were no injuries reported.”
