The Haycombe Cemetery and Crematorium in Bath is to host a special service to remember babies lost in pregnancy, at birth or soon after birth.
The annual ‘Special Babies’ Service will take place during National Baby Loss Awareness Week on Saturday 13th October, 12 noon, at the Top (Burial) Chapel.
The short inter-denominational service, appropriate for those of faith and non-faith, has been organised by the Royal United Hospitals Bath NHS Foundation Trust’s Chaplaincy, Bath & North East Somerset Bereavement Services and the Stillbirth and neonatal death charity SANDS.
Councillor Bob Goodman, cabinet member for Development and Neighbourhoods, said: “The impact of losing a baby is devastating and it is important that those affected have the opportunity to reflect on their loss and remember their little ones.
“The annual service is always well attended and is open to anyone who has been affected by the loss of a baby either recently or many years ago.”
Narinder Tegally, RUH Lead Chaplain, said: “We welcome families to our Special Babies Service, which is held to support families through their loss and grief.
“It is an important part of their grieving and healing process to be able to acknowledge that their baby or child was a significant part of their lives.”
Refreshments will be served following the service.
