Rough sleepers, homeless and vulnerable people in Bath will be able to enjoy a regular warm mug of Horlicks in future, thanks to a nationwide initiative by the malted drink brand.
As part of the Horlicks ‘Gifting a Moment to Communities’ campaign, containers of Horlicks and a generous quantity of mugs were donated to the Julian House hostel on Manvers Street, providing nourishment to their clients.
Cecil Weir, Fundraising Director at Julian House said: “There was much excitement when the Horlicks delivery came and even as the products were being taken in at the hostel kitchen, some of the clients stepped forward to express their delight that Horlicks was ‘on the menu’.
“It was clear that the brand had nostalgic associations from their childhood.”
Michelle Younger, Horlicks Marketing Manager added: “We are delighted to be able to offer our support to shelters such as the remarkable Julian House, in a way that allows us to add the most value that we can.
“Horlicks has brought us comfort and nourishment for over 140 years and it has seen us through two world wars, polar expeditions and fuelled Olympic athletes.
“We take great pride in being able to provide those people most in need with what we affectionately refer to as ‘a warming and delicious hug in a mug’.”
