The Dulux Decorator Centre in Bath is inviting local residents to watch a unique mural take shape as staff get into the festival spirit in the run up to the Bath Carnival.
The team at the Dulux Decorator Centre in Bath are to create a colourful in-store mural to celebrate the theme of this year’s event: Carnival Culture.
As a sponsor of the Bath Carnival 2018, the Dulux Decorator Centre is inviting the local community to go in-store on 16th July for a behind-the-scenes look as the mural is painted using a paint spray machine – a tool that is more commonly used to achieve a smoother paint finish for professional decorators than to create a piece of street art.
Ollie ‘Gage’ Gillard, a professional street artist and staple of the world famous Bristol street art scene, has been commissioned to create the mural.
The artwork will depict the three distinctive styles of carnival encompassed by the theme of this year’s event – Rio Carnival, Caribbean Carnival and New Orleans Mardi Gras – with a local twist that captures Bath’s own rich culture.
Jon Pound, Store Manager at Dulux Decorator Centre Bath, commented: “We’re very proud to be a sponsor of this year’s Bath Carnival – it’s such an inventive way to bring people together for a celebration of all things colourful.
“The Bath community has really welcomed us since the store opened last month, and we wanted to capture that spirit in a way that reflects what we’re all about – colour and creativity.
“The initial designs for the mural look fantastic, and we can’t wait for visitors to join us and see it taking shape.”
On Saturday 21st July, carnival attendees and participants will be able to meet the famous Dulux Dog at the Dulux Decorator Centre stand at the Carnival Preparation Area in Bath Recreation Grounds.
As well getting carnival selfies with the iconic dog, visitors will be able to try their hand at a paint can coconut shy and be in with the chance to win a number of prizes.
