Budding local fashion designers are being invited to submit their work for a chance to see their clothes modelled on the runway, as part of a spring fashion show being held at Bath’s Guildhall next year.

As part of her charity fundraising campaign, Cllr Karen Walker, the Chair of Bath and North East Somerset Council, is hosting a one-off fashion show with afternoon tea in the grand setting of the Banqueting Room at the Guildhall.

During the ‘Elegance in the Afternoon’ event, being held on Saturday 13th April, guests will enjoy tea, cake and fizz as models of all ages showcase the new Summer ’19 collections, walking between the round tables to give their audience a close look at the clothes.

As part of the line-up, one lucky local fashion designer will be invited to contribute one of their designs to be modelled on the day, alongside well-established fashion labels, while details of their name and work will be announced to the audience by compere BBC Points West journalist Imogen Sellers.

Cllr Walker said: “We are really pleased to be able to support emerging local designers in this way. This will be a fantastic opportunity for one designer to promote their work to a local audience and to raise their profile.

“Elegance in the Afternoon will be a lovely, sociable event and we’ve already teamed up with Bath College, whose students are preparing for careers as professional hair stylists and make up artists, to work with our models on the day.”

Designers wishing to submit their work must either be a student in the Bath and North East Somerset area, or live locally.

Applicants, who must also be 18 or older, should either be students or those whose fashion label has been established for less than five years (as at 1st January 2019).

They must be prepared to have an outfit designed and made in time to be shown at Elegance in the Afternoon on 13th April.

Sketches and design notes should be submitted initially to the Chair’s office, via email to: [email protected] by Monday 7th January 2019.

The successful design will be selected by Cllr Walker and representatives from her three chosen charities; Dorothy House Hospice, the Motor Neurone Disease Association and Forces Online.

To buy tickets for Elegance in the Afternoon at £30 a head, to include afternoon tea and prosecco, email: lorainemorganbrinkhurstconsultancy.co.uk.
