The temporary lights are expected to remain in place during this evening’s rush hour as Wessex Water carries out repairs to the damaged main.
A repair team has been working close to Bath Rugby’s training ground since early this morning, and road users are being advised to allow extra time for their journeys or use alternative routes if possible.

There has been no interruption to customers’ water supplies as a result of the burst.
A Wessex Water spokesman said: “We appreciate this is an extremely busy route in and out of Bath and apologise again for any delays caused by this emergency repair.
“We’ll be working extended hours to complete the work as quickly as possible.”
