Glorious gardens created by green-fingered Curo residents have been celebrated at the 2015 Curo in Bloom Awards ceremony, held in Bath earlier in this month.

Winner of the Tallest Sunflower competition, four-year-old Molly Coles of Kingsway in Bath

2015 was another fabulous year for Curo in Bloom, with entries from Curo customers in 17 different neighbourhoods and villages across Bristol, Bath, Keynsham, Radstock and Midsomer Norton.

Curo in Bloom is open to anyone who lives in one of Curo’s 13,000 homes and celebrates great gardens of every shape and size, from a window box or hanging basket to the largest gardens or community spaces.

This year’s winners included four-year-old Molly Coles of Kingsway in Bath who won the Tallest Sunflower competition, and Margaret Charles whose wildlife-friendly garden in Larkhall came first in the Sustainable Garden category.

Margaret Charles, who also picked up the Best Newcomer Award, said: “I was delighted to win the Curo in Bloom Sustainable Garden category on my first attempt.

“Making an open plan area of grass into a magical haven for wildlife, and achieving a natural woodland effect within a small space, became an exciting challenge.”

Claire Abrahams, Curo Resident Involvement Advisor, said: “Curo in Bloom not only benefits those directly involved in the competition, but the local community as a whole.

“We’ve welcomed many new entrants this year who’ve been encouraged by their neighbours’ gardens and we hope to continue this as the competition grows. The positive effects of a beautiful and loved neighbourhood can be profound.”

Over 75 guests attended the Curo in Bloom awards ceremony in Bath to celebrate the achievements of all who took part.

At the event guests enjoyed a photographic exhibition of the winning gardens while getting to know like-minded residents and sharing gardening tips and inspiration.

Curo is keen to hear from local people who would like to share their passion for gardening with other neighbours by becoming a Curo Garden Guru.

Anyone who would like to know more about the role can contact Curo on 01225 366000 or visit www.curo-group.co.uk/curoinbloom where they will also find the full list of this year’s winners.
