A Curo member of staff from Peasedown St John has been chosen by the housing association’s customers to win its ‘Customer Choice Award’ for 2016.
Matthew Batstone, described by customers as “a credit to Curo”, works with some of Curo’s oldest residents living in sheltered housing schemes across the West of England.
Every year, Curo asks its 25,000 customers to nominate someone who has provided outstanding customer service to win the Customer Choice Award. The winner is chosen by a panel of Curo customers.
Matthew, a Curo Livewell Officer, was nominated by Lorraine Dunscombe whose 86-year old mother, Alice Barrett, lives in one of Curo’s sheltered schemes in Peasedown St John.
Lorraine nominated Matthew for the practical and emotional support he provides to her mother – support that’s helped her to stay independent.
Lorraine said: “Matthew always cheers my mum up – he’s good at talking to her and we both think he’s a wonderful person.
“He really goes the extra mile, joining in out-of-hours activities like a recent jumble sale which he brought his children to, and helping out with the bingo – even coming in fancy dress, which everyone finds hilarious.”
Curo Director of Health, Care & Support, Harriet Bosnell, said: “Congratulations to Matthew on winning this award. He inspires and empowers people like Mrs Barrett to live well and to stay independent through our Livewell service.”
At the awards event, held at the Bath Pavilion in December, Curo colleagues raised over £2,000 for Dorothy House, Curo’s charity of the year, through a raffle.
