Stretches of road in the village of Peasedown St John near Bath have received some “much-needed” attention thanks to a campaign led by local councillors.
Independent councillors Karen Walker and Sarah Bevan have been working with B&NES Council’s Highway’s Department to ensure that some of the most severely damaged and worn roads are resurfaced or fixed.
Cllr Sarah Bevan said: “Thanks to all the residents who have been in touch with us over the last few years to lobby for roads to be resurfaced and potholes to be filled in.
“Due to continuous demands on the council budget, it’s proving to be more and more difficult to secure funds for local projects. Nevertheless, we’ve managed to persuade the council to resurface several stretches of the worst affected roads in our village.”
Recently the Orchard Way junction leading onto the A367 Peasedown St John by-pass, which serves over 1,000 homes, has been resurfaced.
Cllr Karen Walker added: “The finished job looks fantastic. Thanks to the team in the Highways Department for their hard work and efforts.
“We’re now working with the council to ensure other local roads are repaired too, such as Wellow Mead and Carlingcott.
“We’re liaising with finance chiefs to see when the funding can be made available for this to happen.”
