Bath & North East Somerset Council is offering support to local residents faced with the prospect of choosing a home care provider for themselves or a family member.
There are many providers to choose from and selecting the right one can be a daunting process.
Last year, the Council’s Public Protection Team joined forces with Adult Services to launch a new scheme to help local people make the right choice for their needs. Called ‘Buy With Confidence + Care’ the scheme offers details of trusted providers.
Organisations are jointly audited by Trading Standards Officers and Adult Services and references obtained from existing clients.
Only those that meet the highest standards are granted membership. Residents who choose a home care provider from the ‘Buy With Confidence + Care’ approved list can be reassured they are selecting the best available care.
Cllr Martin Veal, (Conservative, Bathavon North) Cabinet Member for Community Services said: “We are always aware of and looking for ways to protect the more vulnerable members of our community.
This innovative idea provides clients with peace of mind that they are choosing the best possible care for their loved ones.
“It is a great example of Council teams working together to deliver the best possible service to residents across Bath and North East Somerset.”
Council officers have so far visited and awarded membership to eighteen home care providers used by B&NES Adult Services and applications are now invited from others.
Eight care providers were presented with their membership certificates at a ceremony at the Guildhall on 14th June 2017. This follows a similar presentation to the first 10 providers endorsed last year.
The latest eight approved care providers receiving certificates come from areas across the whole of the Bath and North East Somerset. They are as follows:
- Alzheimers Society, Bath & North East Somerset
- Bluebird Care (Bath & North East Somerset)
- Butterfly Home Help, Bath
- Corinium Care Ltd, Nailsworth
- Divine Homecare Solutions, Radstock
- Millies Care & Support Agency Ltd, Bath
- Network Healthcare Professionals Ltd, Bristol
- Prestige Nursing + Care, Bath
Bath & North East Somerset Council’s Public Protection Team also runs a successful ‘’Buy with Confidence” scheme. This offers details of trusted local businesses which have been audited by officers and meet the high standards required for membership.
The scheme supports consumer confidence in local businesses and generates added value in assisting the growth and development of the local economy. The scheme offers details of a wide range of local businesses from builders to gardeners, plumbers and electricians.
