A consultation on schemes to improve routes in Bath to enhance walking and cycling has been extended by Bath & North East Somerset Council.
The local authority’s cabinet approved the introduction of active travel schemes along the A4 Upper Bristol Road and A36 Beckford Road earlier this year.
However, to create segregated cycle lanes along each route, the council needs to make changes to parking restrictions.
The proposed changes were published in Traffic Regulation Orders (TROs) on Thursday 2nd December and advertised to give residents and businesses a final opportunity to support or object to the proposals.
The statutory consultation period has now been extended to 4th January, when all responses have to be in by 5pm.

The A4 Upper Bristol Road scheme will see new cycle lanes installed that are separate from motor traffic, between Midland Road and Charlotte Street.
Road crossings will also be prioritised for those on foot. Additional bus shelters and cycle parking are also being provided.
The A36 Beckford Road scheme proposes a new eastbound cycle lane separated from motor traffic along Beckford Road, with some on-street parking re-provided nearby.
There will also be improvements to road crossings.
Both schemes are being funded by £500,000 from the Government’s Active Travel Fund to enable more people to walk or cycle for local trips.
The council submitted the successful bid to the Department for Transport through the West of England Combined Authority.
Deputy Leader and cabinet member for Climate and Sustainable Travel said Councillor Sarah Warren, said: “We’ve extended the statutory 21-day period for consultation to give people a bit more time to respond because of the Christmas break.
“We‘ve had strong support for the Beckford Road scheme, but after receiving feedback we revised the A4 Upper Bristol Road scheme to mitigate the loss of parking spaces by retaining some spaces and places where people can drop off or unload.
“We will fully consider comments received from this consultation before deciding on the final schemes which are a key part of our commitment to tackling the climate emergency and encouraging healthy communities.”
