The Royal High School at Lansdown Road has applied for listed building consent to carry out repair and refurbishment work to its historic lower drive main archway, flanking walls and gates.

The archway at the Royal High School in Bath
A report prepared by planning and design consultants says the Grade II listed Gothic Revival archway has badly damaged areas which need repair work, and that restoration is needed where poor quality 20th century repairs have been carried out, such as areas of concrete pointing.
The stonework will be cleaned to allow for careful conservation of the archway and stones will only be replaced where they cannot be restored.
The gates will be restored and re-hung.
The planning reference is 24/01985/LBA. The deadline for comments is 4th July.
