A new Bristol and Bath Railway Path photography competition has been launched by transport charity Sustrans, to mark the 40th anniversary of the historic route.
The competition is part of series of special events being held throughout 2019 to mark the significant milestone.
There are approximately four million trips per year on the 13 mile long path, making it one of the most popular traffic-free routes in the UK.
James Cleeton, Sustrans Director England South, said he was delighted to launch the photography competition: “The Bristol and Bath Railway Path was where the Sustrans journey began, and its significance and importance to the communities it serves has grown since its inception all those years ago.
“This competition is an opportunity for those who use the path to capture and share what it means to them during the year that we celebrate its 40th anniversary.
“We look forward to receiving competition entries and seeing the path through the lens of those who use it and love it.”
The competition has four phases representing the four seasons, each with its own closing date for entries, and opening and closing dates for voting.
The shortlisted photos will be chosen and then uploaded on to the Sustrans Facebook Gallery. The winning photos will be the ones which receive the most ‘likes’.
The winning photo in each category will receive a prize of a calendar comprised of the winning entries.
The competition closes on Saturday 9th November 2019 and the calendar will be produced shortly after.
