Residents are being invited to have their say on proposals to improve waste and recycling facilities across Bath & North East Somerset.
Bath & North East Somerset Council is looking to consolidate its facilities at Pixash Lane and Ashmead Road in Keynsham into a redeveloped site at Pixash Lane.
The operational waste and recycling transfer station from the Midland Road site in Bath is also expected to move to the new site, with the potential for a number of recycling centres opening in Bath for the public to use.
Members of the public are currently being invited to have their say and suggest ideas for sites for recycling centres in Bath, which would replace the current Household Waste Recycling Centre which has been deemed “unfit for purpose”.
One site currently being considered is next to the Odd Down Park & Ride.
The local authority has confirmed that Bath residents “will not be left without at least one, and possibly more, centres for household waste and recycling in the city”.
The proposed state of the art facility in Keynsham has been planned to meet current pressures and future demand.
Bath & North East Somerset Council is seeking the views of the public about the proposals from now until 21st December.
To view and comment on the proposals, visit www.recyclingkeynsham.co.uk.
If anyone is unable to access the information online, they can call 01225 423400 for assistance and support.
All feedback from the consultation will be considered as part of the council’s formal planning application, which will be submitted next year.
Councillor David Wood, cabinet member for Climate Emergency and Neighbourhood Services, said: “The Keynsham proposal aims to create a sustainable, modern facility and make it easier for us all to recycle and reduce our waste, reducing costs and contributing to our climate emergency goals.
“We look forward to sharing our plans with our local communities and hearing their feedback.”
The current waste site at Midland Road in Bath has been earmarked for housing, including affordable homes.
