A number of roads in the centre of Bath have been closed today, Saturday 7th December, due to falling debris caused by a building’s damaged roof.
Avon & Somerset Police have closed part of the A367 in the city centre around Avon Street, St James’s Parade and the Ambury after part of the roof on the Quasar building came off in the strong winds overnight.
Part of the roof continues to hang off the building, which backs onto The Forum, and debris can be seen in the surrounding roads.
Crews from Avon Fire & Rescue have been seen on top of the building.
Though the forecasted weather hasn’t caused as much damage as predicted, there has still been a number of fallen trees in and around Bath.
Bus services were suspended for much of this morning, but many are now attempting to run again.
Bath Christmas Market has been closed today, as has the Bath Central Library.
