Christmas has officially arrived at SouthGate Bath following the switching on of its festive lights and the announcement of its seasonal celebrations.

Every weekend until Christmas, festive characters will be popping up at the centre to sprinkle some Christmas cheer.

This will include visits from festive elves who will be performing magic tricks, as well as the North Pole Porters who will be on hand to help with Christmas shopping.

There will also be an appearance from one of the most iconic Christmas characters around, The Grinch, who will be causing mischief and mayhem.

Regular snow flurries will be taking place outside SouthGate Place and a festive ‘Selfie Sleigh’ will offer visitors the chance to climb inside and snap a picture.

Throughout the festive season, visitors to SouthGate Bath will also be able to make contactless donations to the centre’s four charity partners, Age UK Bath & North East Somerset, Genesis Trust, Bath and North East Somerset Carers’ Centre and Dorothy House, at its giant Giving Box, located in the Secret Garden.

Guy Henderson, centre director at SouthGate Bath, said: “Christmas was a difficult time for many last year, so we want to do what we can to help make this year extra special.

“We’re excited to have a range of activities and festive characters to help visitors get into the Christmas spirit.”

Late night shopping has returned to SouthGate Bath, with stores now opening late on Thursdays until 8pm.
