Children across the region will be able to have an extra special Christmas thanks to generous toy donations made to Avon Fire & Rescue Service this year.
The fire service has welcomed donations from many members of the community, including an anonymous donation of £7,000 worth of toys, to the annual Christmas toy drop.
Thousands of donated toys have already been received, alongside the extraordinary donation made possible by a generous person who would like to remain anonymous.
Over the festive period, the toys will be distributed to families in need through local foodbanks and community centres, ensuring the joy is spread far and wide.
Speaking about the donation, Father Christmas’s anonymous and generous team of donors, said: “We’re thrilled to help spread some Christmas magic to families who need it most.
“This time of year, is about kindness, generosity, and looking out for one another, and we hope these toys bring smiles to children’s faces and lighten the load for parents, guardians and carers.
“We’d also like to thank the incredible team at Avon Fire & Rescue Service for making this possible and for all the work they do to support the community.”
Paul Johnson, a firefighter at Bath Fire Station who has organised the toy drop, said: “We have been overwhelmed by the incredible generosity of the community and are truly amazed by this donation.
“Every year, we see how these toys make a real difference to families in need. Donations of new or nearly new toys for local families in need are still being accepted however we only encourage people to only donate if they can.”
If you would like to donate any toys, you can drop them off at Bath Fire Station (Cleveland Bridge, BA2 6PU) every day, at any time.
