Local charity Life Cycle UK is offering free cycle stands to small organisations in Bath and North East Somerset, thanks to funding from Bath & North East Somerset Council.

COVID-19 and the climate emergency has seen the council working to promote and facilitate sustainable transport such as walking and cycling.

To help local organisations to contribute to this effort, Life Cycle is providing up to two free cycle stands through its Take a Stand® scheme. All the recipients have to do is install the stands.

The number of cyclists has increased significantly during the COVID-19 pandemic, with bike commuters rising by 38%.

The scheme’s ‘Sheffield stands’ are strong and sturdy, reducing bike theft and giving peace of mind to cyclists and business owners alike.

Life Cycle will deliver parking for up to four bikes to local organisations completely free of charge, subject to eligibility. Click here for more details about eligibility and to apply.

Life Cycle is to receive another year’s funding from B&NES Council to deliver the scheme.

Bernadette, Life Cycle’s Take a Stand Coordinator, said: “We are so grateful to BathNES council for funding us to deliver high quality, secure cycle parking to Bath and North East Somerset.

“Each successful applicant will be able to provide parking for up to four bikes, helping them become more accessible and welcoming to people who travel by bike – as well as boosting their ‘green credentials’.”
