A Bath businessman is set to take on a gruelling cycling challenge between Land’s End and John O’Groats to raise vital funds and awareness of charity Julian House.
After spending lockdown in Singapore, unable to see his friends or family for more than 18 months, Adam Proctor has returned to the UK with a mission.
Whilst waiting to start a new job, instead of enjoying the break, Adam set himself the challenge of cycling 874 miles, starting on 10th June.
Adam said: “I wanted to use some of this time to undertake the challenge [with my brother] and to raise money for a very worthwhile cause.
“I have recently moved to Bath and I was really impressed with the work that the charity does across the South West. I wanted to be able to help and in a small way hope the funds raised will be able to support the charity’s good works.
While Adam is a “fairly keen cyclist”, he said “this was most recently around Singapore which is very flat compared to Bath!”
Training is going well, with the brothers clocking up around 200km per week and the longest single ride so far being around 90km.
With a completion target of two weeks, the duo hope to finish by 24th June.
Adam added: “I’m really looking forward to seeing much more of the UK and also pushing myself to the limits. I’m also really looking forward to spending quality time with my brother.”
“I am hoping to raise £4,000. So far I have raised just over £2,000. I am fortunate to have a good network of friends, former colleagues and clients who have been kindly donating.”
