Helen Donovan has been announced as the new Chair of Bath City FC Community Sports Foundation, in a move that was ratified at a trustee board meeting.

In addition, the Foundation appointed a new board of trustees to help further its aims of delivering exciting and worthwhile projects in the Bath community.

The Foundation’s new Chair, Helen Donovan, brings significant experience of working in the charity sector and on high profile community projects.

Helen lives in Bath and is currently on the Advisory Committee for BBC Children in Need. She formerly worked with disadvantaged children and young people with the Princes Trust, and prior to that she was Principal of Dyslexia Action in Bristol and Bath, and a volunteer with the Cherie Blair Foundation for Women and Care for Calais.

Nick Blofeld, Chairman of Bath City Football Club, commented on the appointment of the new trustee board. He said: “Today’s appointment of a new trustee board paves the way for an exciting future for the Foundation, building on the hard work and significant efforts of the previous board.

“I would like to thank Rob Appleyard, who has been interim Chair of the Foundation, as well as his fellow trustees.

“We really look forward to strengthening our relationship with the Foundation, and the Club teaming up to help to deliver positive outcomes for the less advantaged in our community through future projects.”

Helen Donovan, said of her appointment as the Foundation’s Chair: “The Foundation can play a key role in using community sport to improve the lives of many people in Bath.

“Already, it runs numerous exciting initiatives in the community, and I believe this new board will bring fresh energy and diverse skillsets to build on what has been achieved so far.”
