Some of the women have been nominated by local charities, including Margaret Roper and Marcelle Speller.
There are also historic stories of early female philanthropists, Hannah More and Lady Isabella King.
The International Women’s Day 2019 theme is #BalanceforBetter, calling for a more gender-balanced world.
Women are the fastest-growing philanthropic group, so Bath Women’s Fund is celebrating local female philanthropists to help balance the stories that are heard about generosity and impact.
On Friday 8th March, International Women’s Day, local women can drop-in to Tivoli Café in Southgate any time from 12-4 pm to find out more about Bath Women’s Fund, meet others interested in local philanthropy, and share stories about local charities and opportunities they are involved in.
Bath Women’s Fund is a new giving circle and movement to support and celebrate the inspiring local people and charities which empower and support women, girls and families.
A giving circle is a collective response to local needs to enable local women and men to pool their donations make a bigger difference in local communities.
Bath Women’s Fund is led by volunteers and hosted by St John’s Foundation, so every pound donated will be awarded in grants.
Further information about the fund, and how to join, can be found at: www.stjohnsbath.org.uk/bath-womens-fund.
