This week sees the introduction of new Bath Welcome Ambassadors to the city, a team of friendly faces who will be working to provide tourists and visitors with a warm and informed welcome.
The team of volunteers are to be coordinated by chief Welcome Ambassadors Emily and Christine, who have been employed by the Bath Business Improvement District, Bath BID.
With a role similar to that of Game Makers at the Olympics in 2012, the group will help visitors find their way around the city, and keep them informed on what’s happening.
The introduction of the Welcome Ambassadors to Bath comes after Bath BID was tasked by local businesses to provide a professional meet and greet service for those in the city centre.
Speaking about the new scheme, a spokesperson for Bath BID said: “Bath is blessed with museums, sporting venues, theatres and tourist attractions as well as a vibrant shopping scene, food for every palate and world class festivals.
“We want to capitalise on these cultural riches and grow our tourist industry. The warm welcome the Bath Welcome Ambassadors will provide to our visitors from the rest of the UK and the world will help us achieve this.”
Dressed in their bright blue jackets, emblazoned with ‘Welcome to Bath’ and ‘Ask me!’, the team will be on hand around the city from Thursday to Sunday each week.
