To celebrate the tenth anniversary of its popular monthly pub quiz, the famous Star Inn in Bath is holding a twelve hour-long quiz marathon, in aid of the B&NES Carers’ Centre.
The event will be held on Sunday 4th March 2018 from 10am to 10pm at The Star Inn on the Paragon in Bath. Coinciding with the Bath Half, this event offers a different kind of marathon.
The quiz has been held almost every month since 2008 and is widely regarded as one of the toughest pub quizzes in Bath.
Carys Ottner, a primary school teacher and partner of landlord Paul Waters, has devised every quiz over the last ten years.
“The quiz marathon will be a sort of ‘greatest hits’ of the last decade so anyone with good attendance and an excellent memory will probably do well,” she said.
The quiz will raise funds for local Bath & North East Somerset charity, the Carers’ Centre. Recently targeted by thieves, the Carers’ Centre says it is incredibly grateful for the continuing community support from the local area.
The Carers’ Centre Volunteer Coordinator Andy Graham is a quiz regular.
“I like the way the questions make you think,” he said. “They’re never straightforward and, like all the best quizzes, the clues to the answers are usually in the questions themselves.”
The Carers’ Centre provides free advice and support to unpaid carers in B&NES, looking after anyone from elderly relatives to disabled children.
The charity provides free breaks, counselling and befriending and employment advice across the authority.
Chief Executive Sonia Hutchison said: “We’re delighted to be involved with this historic quiz, even more so because local carers will benefit from all the marathon quizzing.”
