Bath Ales has donated £10,000 to local charity The Genesis Trust, which supports vulnerable people in and around Bath on their journey from crisis to independence.

Georgina Young (Head Brewer, Bath Ales) with Anthony Ward (CEO, Genesis Trust Bath), team members from Bath Ales and volunteers from The Genesis Trust
The donation was made via St Austell Brewery’s Charitable Trust, of which Bath Ales is part of the family.
The company’s staff and directors will also be volunteering at Genesis Trust in the New Year, gaining first-hand experience of the work the Trust does and meeting some of the people they help.
The Genesis Trust supports homeless, disadvantaged and vulnerable people in the Bath area, offering opportunities for them to make healthy choices and improve their lives and prospects.
It does this by meeting their immediate needs, providing compassionate help and journeying with them as they gain confidence, learn new skills, overcome challenges, improve their prospects, and make choices for themselves to restore and rebuild their lives.
St Austell Brewery’s Charitable Trust was set up in 2003 to support local charities, good causes and individuals in need across the West Country region.
The Trust is funded by contributions from the company, as well as donations from its customers and fundraising events held in its head offices, depots and pubs.
Since it was launched in 2003, it has donated over £800,000 to charities and causes across the region.
Piers Thompson, Chairman of St Austell Brewery’s Charitable Trust said: “We’re delighted to be giving something back this Christmas, to help where we can and to say an enormous thank you to those who do so much for our local communities in Bath.
“This year has been hard for so many people and we want to do all we can to help those who need it most.
“For us, it’s been particularly inspiring to help out at our local foodbanks. It was an honour to work shoulder to shoulder with the amazing volunteers who do so much throughout the year, to improve the lives of those in their communities who have fallen on tough times.”
Nick Mayo, CEO of The Genesis Trust said: “We are so grateful for the donation from Bath Ales and the St Austell Brewery’s Charitable Trust. 2020 certainly hasn’t turned out as any of us imagined but at Genesis Trust, we are managing to navigate our way through the pandemic.
“With generous support from local businesses, we will continue to help some of the most vulnerable, marginalised people and families in our local community.
“Thank you from all the staff, volunteers and clients of Genesis Trust and we wish you joy and peace this Christmas and we look forward with hope to a better 2021.”
