Local brewer Bath Ales is fielding a team of cyclists this weekend at the seventh Bike Bath event, taking place on Sunday 1st July, with money being raised for Dorothy House.

Bath Ales is a long-term supporter of Bike Bath and has sponsored the ride since it began in 2012.

Roger Ryman, Bath Ales Brewing Director, is taking on the 50-mile challenge and riding with colleagues Adam Lumb, Elliot Murphy, Jamie Ramshaw and Gary Ringrose.

Roger and his team, who live across the West Country in both Bath and Cornwall, are looking forward to taking in the historic sights of Bath while cycling through the city centre and spectacular surrounding countryside.

Roger said: “With the countdown now officially on until this weekend, we have been cycling to and from work at Hare Brewery to get in lots of practice.

“We’ve got our fingers crossed for continued sunshine and a record number of cyclists. As always, we’re looking forward to the brilliant atmosphere and celebrating with a refreshing pint of Gem at the finish line.”

Organised by cycling experts Iconic Cycling Events and championed by national home builder Redrow Homes, the seventh Bike Bath will take place on Sunday 1st July. The sportive expects to welcome over 1,500 riders from across the region.

The event will start and end at the Rec in the heart of Bath. Riders will have the choice of three new rides this year – the 25-mile social, or the 50 or 80-mile challenge.

Riders will also enjoy some of the region’s finest food and drink at food stations along the routes and a celebratory pint of Bath Ales’ Gem at the finish.

Richard Best, CEO of Iconic Cycling Events, said: “Bike Bath is very grateful to Bath Ales for once again supporting the ride.

“Without such sponsors we couldn’t put on such a fantastic event which as well as being great fun for enthusiastic cyclists and families alike, also raises much needed funds for Dorothy House Hospice in Bath and many other local charities.”

Entry is £36 per ride for the 80 and 50-mile rides or £26 for the 25-mile ride. New to 2018 is a family entry for the 25-mile route at £70 for two adults and two children under 16.
